Sharing

Brothers discussed the April 13, 2016 entry in Our Daily Bread entitled “Heart Check” based on the Scripture from Luke 12:34:  “Where your treasure is, there your heart will also be.”  Following this, we read and discussed several Scriptures that command us to put God first in our lives.  We acknowledged that failure to do so is disobedience to God and disobedience to God is sin.  Sin separates us from being in the flow of God’s blessings.  (See Matthew 6:13, Luke 10:27, John 14:15, James 4:17 and Romans 6:23.)  We concluded by reviewing areas of our lives where we must put God first:  family, finances, relationships, schedule, home, and others.  Brothers were encouraged to do a heart check regularly.

Video – Run Hide Fight (www. Youtube.com\watch?v=1ESNae7Ooym)

This video produced by the Alabama Department of Homeland Security provides valuable information on how to respond if we ever find ourselves in a situation where there is an active shooter present.  We recommend that this information be shared with others.

Security Guidelines

Bro. Kenneth Moore and Deacon Levert Moore will prepare a written outline of church security procedures for review.  It was suggested that the Church budget $500 for security expense.

Young Men’s Outing

Bro. James Ashby is exploring options for the young men’s outing.  It appears that a fishing trip during June or July might be the first choice, pending further investigation.

Men’s Conference at New Freedom Baptist Church – May 14, 2016 – 9 A.M. – 1 P.M.

Brothers agreed that we would attend this conference as a group.  The registration fee is $15 and includes continental breakfast and light-fare lunch.  Registration fees should be given to Pastor E by Sunday, April 24 who will notify New Freedom of our participation.

Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Training

The Nation of Islam is sponsoring a training session on conflict resolution on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Connexions High School at 2801 N. Dukeland, 21216. Members of the faith-based community have been invited to this session that will train the trainer on how to diffuse conflict between rival parties, establish unifying dialogue and mediate conflict. This training is designed to help faith leaders engage gang members to “stop the killing.”  Bro. Robert Payne, Bro. Paulloyd Carter, Deacon Levert Moore, MIT Deacon Jack Briscoe, and Pastor E expressed interest in attending.  Pastor E will make contact to determine if seats are still available for this training.
